Literary Activities
The primary aims and objectives of North Lakhimpur College Publication are closely associated with literature. The publication especially works to engage students in literary activities. Dr. Arabinda Rajkhowa, the coordinator, has been implementing these programmes in a well-planned manner, achieving notable success. The key literary activities of North Lakhimpur College Publication are briefly outlined below:
1. Book Publication: The College Publication has published a total of 75 books to date.
2. Publication of Student Writings: North Lakhimpur College Publication takes the initiative to publish stories, essays, and other literary works written by students. So far, 10 such books have been published.
3. Bookstore: The college publication maintains a well-stocked bookstore. Students can browse and purchase books at discounted rates from this store.
4. Book Discussion Programme: Every month, the publication organizes a book discussion event titled "Kitap aru Alap" (Books and Conversations) exclusively for students. This initiative has helped foster a love for reading among the younger generation.
5. Outreach Programmes: Each year, the publication establishes libraries and organizes book-based competitions in rural schools, benefiting school students significantly.
6. Book Fair: North Lakhimpur College Publication organizes an annual book fair on the college campus. In this fair, students participate both as organizers and sellers. This has helped increase the number of book enthusiasts in the Lakhimpur area.
7. Workshops: Literary workshops are conducted among students, leading to the emergence of many budding writers.
8. Newspaper Publication: Since 2015, the College Publication has been publishing a newspaper named Campus. It is published on the occasion of various college events. All roles—including journalist, editor, and compositor—are performed by students of the college.
