Department of Anthropology

Sri Hemendra Kr. Gogoi, Ex- Principal,North Lakhimpur College was the pioneer in the establishment of the Department of Anthropology in the year 1999. The subject Anthropology was introduced both in Higher Secondary classes and T.D.C general classes. The student community gave tremendous response to the subject. The Major course in Anthropology was introduced from the academic session 2004-05.

A. Departmental Library: With the help of teachers, students and publishers, Department of Anthropology has set up its own library in 2000. Now more than 300 books are available in the library.The students are allowed to use the departmental library.

B.  Departmental Museum: The Department of anthropology has its own anthropological museum. The museum has different collection of ethnic dresses, ornaments, material culture, prehistoric tools etc. .

C. Anthropological Forum: The Department has its own anthropological forum to organize seminars, maintaining library and museum, organize fieldwork etc.

D. Anthropological Field Work: Every year the teachers and students conducts anthropological fieldwork to study socio-economic condition of the rural and tribal people.

E. L.C.D Projector: The department has a L.C.D projector for departmental seminars and digital classes.
