In 1981, with the noble endeavour of Sri Sarbeswar dutta, M.A. (Double) B.T.E.T. the department of Education was established in North Lakhimpur College without Major course. At that time most of the students were interested for the subject Education and showed good results in the final examination. Hence, Major course was introduced in 1987-88 with a limited number of seats. At present, the department has a unique position. The students from this department not only succeed in the under graduate course but also secured top positions in the Master Degree level. In the last year B.A. Final examination, 22 students have got 1st class and it is very glad for us that Dibakar Dutta has got not only first class first from our department but also bagged “Best Graduate” honour in Arts Stream of our First Autonomous batch of North Lakhimpur college. A. Library: With the help of teachers, students and publishers, the department of Education have been set up a library of its own. It was started in 1999. Now there are about 501 books (course related and references books) in the library.
B. Computer: There is a one desktop in the department which are helpful for recording and storing the different types of data.
