North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), affiliated to Dibrugarh University, the first-ever autonomous college of Assam, having the Potential of Excellence Phase II and Reaccredited by NAAC with B++ Grade; has the Department of Mass Communication established in 2015-16. This department has been offering primarily two years Post Graduation level modular programme, Master of Arts in Mass Communication (MAMC) which is a degree course under Dibrugarh University, since the very first year of its establishment.

The courses are designed to promote understanding and training in the field of mass media. The courses cover a wide range of subjects, such as concept and objectives of the media, reporting, feature–writing and editing, translation, photography, television-radio production, documentary making, exposure of alternative media and public relations. As such, the courses give exposure to the various aspects of communication. There are plenty of job opportunities, such as Journalist, Newspaper editor, Content Writer, Radio Jockey, Producer, Screenwriter, Director, Television artist, Film maker, Reporter, Anchor, Photographer, Cinematographer, Public relations worker, Academician; after the completion of the courses.

1. MA in Mass Communication*

Department of Mass Communication(DMC), since its inception in 2015, has been successful in carving a niche for itself in the field of Media and Communication of entire north bank of Assam. So taking a cue from the change in trend, North Lakhimpur Colleges (Autonomous) has started upgrading facilities to groom students for the electronic media by building a studio for its Department of Mass Communication. The studio is named as “STUDIO 24FRAMES Production”, acquired one Apple iMac Editing Systems with latest version of Final Cut Pro 10.0 (FCP X) for video and audio editing using upgraded equipments like M-Audio AV-42, MXL990 Mic, Steinberg UR-22, Sennheiser HD-180, Nuendo/ProTune.  The studio also has one latest DSLR camera with four different types of Lenses, one high quality Point-and-Shoot camera and two tripods.

Other than the facility of the Audio Video Editing Studio, the department has also provided one Sony LCD Television setup with Cable-Network connection and one sound Sony multimedia 5.1 speaker configurations along with a Digital Projector and Screen to enhance the quality of the media students.

a) Audio Recording:

*Dubbing (Vocal for Songs, Narrations etc.)

b) Video Editing:

*Editing Projects (Documentary, Short and Feature Films, Music Videos etc.)

- With and without Editor

 

c) Photo shoot/ Cinematography:

*Academic and Non academic Photo shoots and Camera works (Documentary, Short and Feature Films, Music Videos etc.)

 

The Department of Mass Communication has also owned a Library exclusively for its students. The students get the facility of around 38 relevant books and two English daily News-Papers and three Periodicals till date.
