General Guidelines

General Rules for Maintenance of Discipline in the College :

  1. Societies and associations shall be subjected to such guidance and control as the college administration may prescribe from time to time.
  2. Only those societies or associations having recognized by the Principal, can avail the facilities of the college premises.
  3. All notice desired to be pasted or circulated by the students anywhere in the college and hostel premises shall require the approval of the principal.
  4. Principal’s signature over the identity card shall be affixed within 15 days from the date of admission. Students shall keep the identity card with them whenever in the college and in a position to produce it when demanded.
  5. Filled p registration form of council. University should be submitted in the office within the stippled time as fixed by the college office. No registration form will be received after such time.
  6. For a pass certificate from the college, one has to apply one day ahead and for a transfer certificate, he/she has to apply at least two days ahead.
  7. Class attendance of students should not be less than 60%. DISCOLLEGIATE RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ADHERED TO.
  8. The following activities of the students in this college will be treated as serious offences. All responsibility for maintain discipline is vested with the Principal and the disciplinary action committee and their decision shall be final in all such matters. RECENTLY PROMULGATED GOVT. RULES ON RAGGING ARE STRICTLY.

Students will be Punished for :

  1. Encouraging and participation in ragging of any type.
  2. Forcible disruption of classes.
  3. Destruction of college properties.
  4. Miss behavior shown towards girls, woman, teacher and employee of the college.
  5. Using drugs, narcotics and cigarette smoking inside or outside the college campus.
  6. Forwarding any type of wrong information to the college authority.
  7. Damage of library books etc.
  8. Any kind of activities detrimental to the academic atmosphere of the college.

Results and Progression of BA & BSc Programmes :

  1. A candidate shall be declared as passes a course, provided he/ she secures-
    1. At least 40% marks in each course in the end semester examinations.
    2. At least 40% marks in each course in aggregate in the in- and end- semester examinations.
  2. A candidate shall be declared as passes a semester, provided he/ she pass all the courses of a semester independently. 
  3. The marks of in-semester examinations obtained by the candidates shall be carried over for declaring any result. 
  4. A candidate who fails or does not appear in one or more courses of any end semester examinations up to sixth semester shall be provisionally promoted t the next higher semester with the failed course as carry over course(s). such candidates will be eligible to appear in the carry over course in the next regular examinations of those courses. However , the following restrictions shall be applicable:
    1. A candidate shall be entitled to a maximum of three chances to clear a course.
    2. If a candidate clears the sixth semester examination before clearing all the courses of the previous semesters, the result of the sixth semester examinations of the candidate shall be withheld and his/ her results shall be announced only after he/she clears the courses of the previous semesters.
  5. A student must pass all his/ her semester examinations within five(5) years from the date of admission to the first semester of any programme. 
  6. Since the semester system involves continuous assessment, there shall be no scope for a student to appear as a private candidate in any programme in this system. 
  7. A candidate shall be declared to have passed the six semester degree BA/B.Sc programme provided he/she has passes all the semesters and in all the courses separately.

Assessment :

Examinations and evaluations shall be done a continuous basis by the controller of examination of the autonomous college under Credit based semester system (CBSS).

  1. In credit based system. Students are assessed in two parts-
    1. Continuous internal evaluation(CIE)
    2. Semester end examinations (SEE)

Continuous Internal evaluation(CIE) shall be conducted by the course teacher all through the semester; which includes sessional examination I(written); sessional examination II(written); seminar/ group discussion/ home assignment/ sudden test/quiz along with attendance in class. Semester end examination (SEE) will be conducted at the end of the semester, on dates to be fixed at the college level.

  1. A student will not be allowed to appear for the end semester examinations unless he/ she fulfills all the following conditions:
    1. He/she attends at least 80% of the lectures, practical and tutorials in each semester.
    2. He/she has completed the continuous internal assessment requirement securing the minimum marks required.
  2. There shall be 25% marks for internal assessment and 75% narks for end semester examination in each course during every semester. 
  3. There shall be no provision for re evaluation of the answer scripts of the End semester examination. However a candidate may apply for re-scrutiny. 
  4. The candidates may be allowed to go through his/her evaluated answer sheet if found genuine by the college authority through a teacher of that particular course. 
  5. After the declaration of results of a semester, the controller of examinations shall issue a grade card to each of the students. The grade card shall contain the grades obtained in the different courses registered by him/her, the SGPA, CGPA and the total credits earned so far. 
  6. Once a student completes all the requirements of a programme the controller of examinations shall issue him/her a transcript containing the list of courses completed by him/her with pass grades along with the final grades obtained in each, the total credits earned and the CGPA. 
  7. Absolute grading system shall be applied. 
  8. The parent university (Dibrugarh University) shall award the degree to the students evaluated and recommended by North Lakhimpur College(Autonomous). The degree certificates will be in a common format devised by the university. The name of the college will be mentioned in the degree certificates.

Attendance :

A student who has less than 80% attendance shall not be permitted to sit for the end semester examination in the course in which the shortfall exists. Provided that it shall be open to the university to grant exemption to a student who has attended a minimum of 70% classes but failed to obtain the prescribed 80% attendance for valid reason on recommendation of the head of the department on payment of a prescribed fee(s).

Examinations and examinations rules :

  1. HS 1st year and final examinations will be held during the months of February and March by the college and AHSEC respectively. Examinations or the under graduate and post graduate classes are conducted by the college as per regulations passed by the academic council and governing body of the college.
  2. Unit test and sessional examination will be held according to the college routine.
  3. Periodic unit and class room tests in all subjects are held regularly. These are conducted by the respective departments independently.
  4. Attendance in all these college examinations by the student is OBLIGATORY.
